Gortanacra submitted by frogcottage42 : The reduction in grazing over the past few years has made it nearly impossible to see even relatively complete circles like this one. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Axial stone circle in Cork. Circle diameter: 28 feet. A good example of a multiple stone, boulder type circle. Originally composed of 13 boulder type stones, none more than .9m high, 12 survive although five are prostrate.

The axial stone is the only noticeably rectangular stone and is laid flat in the usual SW position. Aside from being dreadfully overgrown at this time this circle benefits from a splendid aspect, having views over several valleys but shielded from views to the NE by a nearby hill.
