Fernworthy Cairn 5 can be found less than a hundred metres to the east of the stone circle up a slight raise. It is up to 10 m diameter, and has a small 5 m diameter mound in the centre, surrounded by a flatter region and remains of a ring of surrounding stones.

With all of the treestumps in the region, it is tricky to determine what is an ancient stone and what is a relatively recent treestump! Past excavations here found pottery, flint tools and other items, but no remains of any human burial.

Update October 2019: This cairn is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entry for the Fernworthy E. Encircled Cairn, which tells us that the cairn is 5.8m in diameter. "Has 3 stones spaced on the east side. A beaker, flint knife, dress fastener and a piece of bronze were discovered when the cairn was excavated in 1898. The crushed beaker. When reconstructed it became one of Dartmoor's most important Bronze Age finds and is now on display in Plymouth City Museum along with the other artifacts retrieved".

The cairn is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 443855, which adds the cairn is "visible as a low mound measuring 6.7m by 7m with a height of 0.5m. It has various amorphous areas of disturbance, some may date to excavations of 1897".

The Devon and Dartmoor HER also includes a record for this site; see MDV6560 (Cairn to east of Fernworthy stone circle), and is also scheduled as part of Historic England List ID 1017984 (A stone circle, known as Fernworthy Circle, three stone alignments and five cairns 425m and 525m north west of Sandeman Bridge).
