Stenstugan (Stone Cottage) submitted by Tonnox : Stenstugan. Dolmen in mound. RAÄ-nummer Träslöv 29:1. Riksantikvarieämbetet in Sweden. More information in the bottom of the mainsite. Foto juli 2023 (Vote or comment on this photo)
A dolmen situated in a barrow. The chamber consists of three stones covered by a heavy capstone and surrounded by a circle of slabs set on edge. This type of tomb was built in the Early Stone Age, c 2500-2300 BC. No finds of the period of construction have been made here. Dolmens are associated with the introduction of farming in Sweden. The cup-marks on the capstones are probably of a later date - most likely the Bronze Age.

Information from a plaque by the site.

The chamber is flat-sided, 1.35m x 1.3 internal dimensions consists of 3 side slabs and 1 roof slab. From the outside, the chamber is 0.8 m tall. Around the edge is a circle of 5 kerbstones, some of the stones have fallen and tumbled down the slope.
