Auchlee Circle
Auchlee Circle submitted by golux : Photo taken 11th April 2010, of same scene as first photo on this page (by cosmic, captioned "Upright stones"), to show how this whole site is now engulfed in gorse. By summertime you will need a suit of armour to get into this circle! There is a lot of clearance work going on all around the circle, with the tracks of heavy machinery running close by. Will the circle itself be cleared or left in... (2 comments - Vote or comment on this photo)

Auchlee Circle
Auchlee Circle submitted by Postman : I only stopped because the map said there's a stone circle here, this was all we could find amid the ran amok gorse, it could be the recumbent, probably better to not waste any time here. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Burl does list this circle (The stone circles of Britain, Ireland & Brittany - Yale, 2000, p429), but under Kincardineshire.

This is an interesting site but not for aesthetic reasons! It does not appear on the 1:50,000 OS Map and on the 1:25,000 it is shown as some dots but with no label. Burl doesn't include it in his listing of Stone Circles however RCAHMS declare it as a RSC but their earliest listing is 1977!

The farmer was amazed that I wanted to visit but was happy to oblige - "It's them few stones where I've pulled out the whins".

A rating of 2 for condition would be more appropriate.
