Passage Grave in Västergötland

This site is in a suburb of Falköping. The chamber is approximately 9 metres long and between 1.03 metres and 1.6 metres wide. It sits on a mound which is 18 metres by 14 metres. The site was to have been removed for road works but despite some damage it was saved by the Central Board of Antiquities in 1952. To reach the site drive north from the museum along S:t Olofsgaten, cross the roundabout and go under the rail bridge into Scheelegaten. The site is on the corner of the second road on the right (Torstenssonsgaten). Reference: Riksantikvarieämbetet Fornsök: Falköping 9:1, Archaeological Sites of Interest in the Falköping Area, Falköping Council/Museum brochure.

The stone seen on the top left of the picture is one of the capstones over the passage, the sandstone slab below it is part of the southern side of the burial chamber and the large sandstone slab seen to the right is part of the northern side, the back, of the chamber.
