Barbrook I is one of the best preserved stone circles in the Peak District. The circle of 12 stones stand in a hollow on a shelf of raised land and have spectacular views across to th limestone plateau.
The site consists of a worn rubble bank, 19m by 17m in diameter, surrounding the circle of stones 12.5m by 14.5m. There is a gap in the ring to the south-east which may originally have contained one more stone.

Re: Barbrook I (Score: 1) by Vicky on Tuesday, 13 November 2001 (User Info | Send a Message) | | All of the Barbrook circles are located in a wildlife sanctuary area and technically you are supposed to ask for permission in writing from the Peak National Park Authority before visiting, but the wardens don't seem to mind as long as you go out of bird nesting season. | [ Reply to This ]
