Cave or Rock Shelter in Toscana

Ancient rock-cut settlement in the town of San Quirico featuring multiple unusual and spectacular split level cave dwellings with built in water storage, shelving, hearths, etc., many rock-cut stairways and features that are quite intriguing.

Also check nearby Ildebranda Tomb, the Tomba della Sirena, and Via cava roads.

Various websites indicate that the oldest caves are likely Etruscan, iron age or older but it was apparently inhabited up through the 18th century.
