Barrow Cemetery near Namsos in Norway. This site consists of 6 large burial mounds, about 15-18 metres in diameter, and about 2-3 metres tall and two smaller mounds, about 8-9 metres across and 0,5 to 1 metres high.

They are easy to make out as soon as you walk on top of them, but can be hard to see from a distance because they are located inside a fur forest and some smaller brush grows on top and around them. [The forest is now cleared - hooray!]

The mounds themselves appear undamaged and have a very nice shape and also have a very clear "ditch" around their edges. They lay on the edge of a natural river terrace of sand, overlooking the Namsen river. The view would have been great if it was not obscured by the forest.

The cemetery is a very good example of burial sites along the Namdalen valley, several other cemeteries with similar locations are known, suggesting the Namdalen valley had a very large population in the Iron Age.

Note: Now cleared of thick forest so it's much easier to see the barrows!
