Navan Fort
Navan Fort submitted by jeffrep : Wide Ditch and Bank Surrounding Navan Fort, County Armagh, Northern Ireland. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Navan Fort (Emain Macha) is a large earthwork of circular plan surrounding the summit of a drumlin. The site, a pagan sanctuary, is approximately 785 feet in internal diameter. Where best preserved on the west, the ditch is over 13 feet deep and the external embankment almost 50 feet wide and 13 feet high.

The impressive earthwork encloses two monuments on the hilltop, a ring barrow, an Iron Age burial site, and a large mound.
