Sardegna, the Spirit of an Ancient Island - The Art and Architecture of the Pre-Nurgagic and Nuragic Cultures is a new exhibition (with accompanying book) opening on June 7th in the new Giovanni Lilliu Center in Barumini, Sardinia. Barumini is home to the World Heritage Site and Nuraghe of Su Nuraxi. Images from the exhibition will also be on show in the UNESCO building in Paris from May 20th.
The author, architect, and photographer is Sandra Davis Lakeman, Emeritus Professor of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. Sandra's work on the exhibition began in 1998, 1999, and continued on visits in 2000, 2006, 2012, 2013 and 2014. The exhibition opening and book presentation starts at 5pm on June 7th in the Giovanni Lilliu Center.
Sandra's interest in the archaeological sites on Sardinia began following her two exhibitions in Tuscany - Natural Light and the Italian Piazza and Meaning in the Elements of Architecture in the Fortezza Aldobrandeschi.
The accompanying book will be a 148-page academic study and artistic viewpoint of these amazing sites with 107 pages of full colour images and 50 drawings in a 10 page Visual Glossary.

As mentioned, The Comune di Barumini has been invited to mount an exhibition regarding the great Nuraghe Su Nuraxi di Barumini in the UNESCO establishment in Paris and some of Sandra's images will also be shown there, starting on May 20th 2014.
