Thanks to the hard work of Martyn 'TheCaptain' and Alex Hunger, I'm pleased to announce that the Megalithic Portal now features one thousand megalithic sites in France! These are mainly in the départements of Calvados and Manche in Normandy and the Brittany départements of Finistère, Côtes-d'Armor, Ille-et-Vilaine and Morbihan (the locality around Carnac of course).

The best way in at the moment is via the Text Browse pages, and look for the names above.

As I said last autumn a big part of the work is to identify latitudes and longitudes to allow map plotting. I've used the lats and longs to generate pop-up maps like the ones we have for the UK and Ireland. These show the sites in the surrounding area and allow you to easily hop around from one site to another.

Photos are a bit thin on the ground at the moment but we have a few as you will see on the "More new Pictures" page. I'm sure there are people out there who have visited more of these sites than we have.

We are starting to get contributors from France (welcome!) thanks to the power of Google and the other search engines so we will probably soon be needing people to translate French text!

We can add so many sites thanks to the Portal's spreadsheet site adding facility - if anyone else would like a copy of the spreadsheet template to get to work on another site type, region or country let me know.

Cheers,
Andy
