Easy to get to along the west rocky beach of Mousehole. Clamber west from village for 30 mins. Can't miss it.

Fishing at The Mousehole this afternoon. You cannot see it from the shore because it is the furthest point out on the coast and the cliff is vertical. From out at sea the cliffs look just like a skirting board with a huge circular hole at the bottom...hence the name. Tide does not affect it, the top of the hole is at least 30ft higher than high tide

If you take the coastal path from the top of Raginnis Hill you will come to a WW2 concrete bunker and a bench seat at either side of the path followed by a steep descent of cut steps. Just after your descent a small path forks to the left and takes you down to a large flat rock, visible from the Coastal path. Before reaching the rock the fishing path crosses The Mousehole. You cannot miss it, as the path is now only a couple of feet from the edge and the grass/shrubs are eroding rapidly(31st March 2012) and falling into the hole.

I don't give the current path to the rocks more than a year before its "gone". I was very aware of walking across "a void" when taking the path this morning. Path and cave roof are only 3ft apart so its getting risky!

Hope this helps.

Tried to find this yesterday but was beaten by the onset of high tide and darkness. I was presuming it is at sea level in the cliff and not higher up amongst the houses on the cliff top? Entered the grid ref supplied here onto my gps and followed the rocks along at the base of the cliff until I could go no further and was a long way past the waypoint. Has anyone else tried to find this? I heard there is a similar smuggler's tunnel in the cellar of the Admiral Benbow in Penzance.
