Talatí de Dalt
Talatí de Dalt submitted by postman : Talati de Dalt taula sanctuary, if you're thinking of a Mediterranean holiday next year I urge you to go to Menorca, its fab !!! (Vote or comment on this photo)
The talayotic settlement of Talatí de Dalt is situated only 4 km away from Maó next to the main road of the island. It's one of the most important sites in the Minorcan prehistory. Its closeness to the city, the easy and well signalled access, its uncommon taula and the peace of its surroundings make the place to be one of the most appreciated sites.

The village has kept some wonderful monuments and many of the remains. Some parts have been lost and not studied yet. The first monuments you can see are: two natural caves, the central talayot, the sanctuary with the taula and several rooms with columns and flagstones at the top.

A deeper outlook shows us another two talayots. These are both situated in the defense wall. A part of the wall and various talayotic houses with only foundations have not yet been excavated.

Since 1997 archaeological excavations have been made by Amics del Museu de Menorca formerly and latterly by Arqueomenorca. These two societies have started the discovery of ancient life in the settlement. This was a medium size village, with a population of about a hundred people, at its best times, during the 3rd century CE.

Admission 4 Euro. Extract from official site: Talati.

The Journal of Antiquities also includes an entry for Talati de Dalt, Algendar, Minorca, Balearic Islands, which includes directions for finding this ancient settlement, photographs and a brief history and description of the site.

1st Ever post for me (sorry in advance if it does go right ) Talatí de Dalt (Around 1 and half hours of video footage, all described by myself reading the Story Boards, and guide given out at the tourist /payment /guide desk THANK YOU ANDY B for your initial response to my email , from the newslesster , and for all your help sir in getting this video /videos. up on Megalithic Portal Over The Moon :) :) It was very tough on my Mum and she was 86 that day , and I should really have had more sense than to bring her her, but she liked it , had she been my age 51 now (at time of post on 28th July 2016) she would certainly have enjoyed it more.
TOP TIP take water with you, we didn't and left ours in the car, though they do sell it If if I remember at the tourist payment /information /gifts shed

I tried to copy in the embed code, but the preview does not seem to include the videos
so I'll give you the 3 URL's instead .

I value my Mum more than Life , so just a reminder for their wellbeing or if indeed you yourself are elderly and plan on going
Always due consideration in everything, most especially with people, we are not as solid as the stones:)
