A Row of Five Stones in Argyll, probably more originally

I noticed your website has reference to the standing stones which are less than 10ft from my kitchen window. I don't know whose idea it was to build the house I stay in right next to those stones as it causes manouvering problems for the various farm vehicles that come into the yard!

Update October 2019: This row is featured on the Stone Rows of Great Britain website - see their entry for Escart, which includes a description, a plan of the row from Canmore's collection (Sketch plan of the standing stones at Escart), photographs of the alignment and the individual stones, access information and links to online resources for more information.

The row is recorded as Canmore ID 39335 (Prehistoric Standing Stones), which indicates there may have been more stones in the group, and as WoSAS Pin 3925 (Escart Standing Stones) on the West of Scotland Archaeology Service. The row is also scheduled as SM3656 Escart, Standing Stones on the Historic Environment Scotland website.

The SRoGB notes: "Originally described as a stone circle by the Ordnance Survey, but current consensus is that this is the remains of a prehistoric stone row". The row has restricted views of the sea.

Note: The SRoGB asks visitors to note: "The stone row stands within a farm-yard and permission to visit should be sought. The owner is very interested, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Permission to visit was readily given in March 2017".

I stay in Escart Farm. The stones are 10ft from my kitchen. There are 5 stones, the tallest being around 12ft high. You can speak to me by email . Many thanks, Iain.
