Cheriton Ridge 2
Cheriton Ridge 2 submitted by TheCaptain : This stone setting is easily found, even though the four standing stones are each no more than a foot tall. At first, the four standers seem to be four stones of a six pack, with the other two still in place but broken. (Vote or comment on this photo)
South along the Two Moors Way (Tarka Trail) along the top of the Cheriton Ridge, and a couple of kilometres out onto the open moorland can be found the remains of this stone setting.

At last, I have found some stones! This stone setting is easily found, even though the four standing stones are each no more than a foot tall. At first, the four standers seem to be four stones of a six pack, with the other two still in place but broken. The spacing between each stone is about 8 metres.

Then, to the east, I found plenty more broken and fallen stones, which if all in place would have meant that this setting was perhaps three rows of four stones, running laterally to what is the remaining sixpack.

These stone settings remain a mystery to me, there seems very little regularity between them all, in either their position or their arrangement.

Update October 2019: This row is featured on the Stone Rows of Great Britain website - see their entry for Cheriton Ridge, North which includes a description, a plan of Cheriton Ridge and a plan of the Cheriton Ridge, North Stone Row (from a recent survey carried out in April 2018), photographs of the alignment and the individual stones, access information and a list of online resources for more information. The SRoGB also includes a section for 'Landscape Comments', demonstrating how the row may be aligned with the setting sun through Holdstone Hill at the summer solstice.

The row is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 35442 and as MDE1310 (Prehistoric stone setting on east side of Cheriton Ridge) on the Exmoor National Park HER.
