SandyG visited on 5th Sep 2016 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 4 Access: 4 Limited car parking is available at NC 66181 58635. Follow the road on foot westward to a gateway at NC 65931 58621. This is a surprisingly busy road and care should be taken. From the gateway make your way across open moorland to the row.

Multiple Stone Rows in Highland, possibly five in total.

This stone row, situated just north of the A836 road between Tongue and Bettyhill is featured on the Stone Rows of Great Britain and The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) web sites.

The Stone Rows of Great Britain page tells us that there are multiple stone rows here, comprising 17 small and medium stones, and includes a simplified plan. TNA also gives plans, based on 1988 and 1996 surveys, and give excellent details on how to find this site together with a brief history and archaeology.

Further information can be found on Canmore ID 5745 which tells us that these rows are: on a peat covered gently sloping south facing hillside, is anincomplete series of stone rows covering an area approximately 18.0m by 10.0m. About twelve stones are in situ, while others have been displaced. The stones are generally upright, pointed slabs protruding up to 0.35m through the heather. Two probable rows are discernible running north north east- south south west. Disturbance of the peat on the west and east sides of the rows has probably removed further stones. An amorphous, low, heather covered mound of probable natural origin is situated at the north end of the site. Erosion has revealed a small number of stones of varying size in its body."
