Thank you for posting this video Andy - it was really interesting - especially as we got to the exhibition last week - seeing the Nebra Sky Disc was incredible! The whole exhibition was extremely well done - a plethora of amazing artefacts...

Great to hear some background info from the Profs - really adds to the ''world of Stonehenge''..!

Video: The World of the Nebra Sky Disc by Andy B on Saturday, 05 March 2022
(User Info | Send a Message)
The Nebra Sky Disc is only one component of a so-called hoard. It also includes two swords, two arm spirals, two axes and a chisel. Normally, the Sky Disc is exhibited separately from the other finds in the permanent exhibition of the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle (Saale). At the moment, the complete hoard can be admired together in a display case in the current state exhibition. What "problems" arise when the Sky Disc is exhibited together with the rest of the hoard finds? Which detail on one of the swords possibly connects the Nebra hoard with the Near East?

Museum director Harald Meller answers these and other questions in this episode of "Museum exklusiv". As part of a short guided tour, this archaeological highlight is illustrated by the exhibits of the state exhibition "The World of the Nebra Sky Disc – New Horizons" on display at the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle (Saale), Germany.

This looks like a worthy monument to the disc.
Please note I have trademarked the name 'Chocolate Skydisc®' and an album will be forthcoming...
