This cairn is at the upper end of Drizzlecombe stone row 1 (or A), and is about 7 metres in diameter, and 0.7 metres in height. As usual, it has been dug into at the middle.
With a bit of imagination, there is a circle of stones around the outside, and perhaps another one within the cairn, but they are not really clear. To the southern side is a large slab, which could be a displaced capstone from a cist, although it is suggested that it is the displaced first stone from the stone row, but it would be much bigger than the other stones in the row.
This cairn is featured on Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) - see their entries for the Drizzlecombe S Row Encircled Cairn and the Drizzlecombe Ceremonial Complex (Photos 1).
The cairn is also recorded as part of Pastscape Monument No. 438629 and scheduled as part of Historic England List ID 1014145 (Three stone alignments, 15 cairns, a cist, a partially enclosed stone hut circle settlement and a small clapper bridge at Drizzle Combe).
The Devon and Dartmoor HER also includes an entry for this cairn; see MDV14779 (Cairn at north-east end of stone row, Drizzlecombe).
For information about the Drizzlecombe stone rows and their associated cairns and standing stones, see the Stone Rows of Great Britain's entry for Drizzlecombe 1, which includes a description, photographs, a plan of the rows, their pillar stones and associated cairns, plus access information and links to other online resources.
