Erme Pound
Erme Pound submitted by thecaptain : Erme Pound settlement seen from the other side of the river Erme valley. The external walls are clear, with many hut circles within less so. (Vote or comment on this photo)
This is an excellently preserved ancient village on the eastern flanks of the upper Erme valley, one of the largest on Dartmoor, with superb walls around the outside, with at least one entry into it, from near the stream at the north.

Within are several hut circles clearly to be seen, one or two with remains of doorways, and at least one with an external extra room.

This bronze age village deserves more time to explore than I had here, which was not long.

Update September 2019: This pound is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entries for the Erme Pound and the Upper Erme Row & Cairn Circle.

The pound is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 441626 and has a record on the Devon and Dartmoor HER - see MDV5110 (Erme Pound, Harford).

This monument is also scheduled as Histric England List ID 1002604 (Hut circles in Erme Pound E of River Erme).
