Tyfos submitted by vicky : Tyfos Circle, Llandrillo, Denbighshire GR: SJ028388 This fantastic little circle lies in a farmer's field adjacent to a country lane near Llandrillo. Around 20 stones stand in a ring which has been described as either a denuded ringcairn or a free-standing stone circle. Although it is on private land it is well worth a visit and there are several gaps in the hedge making viewing easy. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Stone Circle in Denbighshire. The circle is about 50yds diameter with stones 1 to 2 feet tall. It's slightly raised above a one track metalled road running parallel to the river Dee, about 10yds from the road.

We thought we could see the circle from Moel y Uchaf. The impact is slightly reduced by the overlooking farmhouse buts it's a lovely situation by the river. Mark Lloyd & Sian Griffith

has any body seen two dogs, a dalmation and a lurcher running near the tyfos circle? Not sheep worriers as born and brought up round sheep.

I don't know what the dark feature is but if you go anywhere along the road it's there. Spooky. 8)

Whilst visiting this morning, I unwittingly secured the misdirected amorous intentions of a lone ram. Having gained permission to visit, I entered the enclosure, whereupon the ram approached, sniffed my leg, and demonstrated that he would like my leg to have his babies... I've never encountered anything quite as comedic from a sheep. For 10 minutes I was darting about, dodging the ageing sheep, trying to take photos, all in heavy drizzle... must have looked like something from James Herriot!

The circle can be easily viewed from the lane - there are several large gaps in the hedge through which to see it.

We also found a chambered tomb to the south-west of Tyfos on the same lane at SJ012776. This can be seen from a conveniently placed layby. Only two stones seem to remain but there are lots of stones visible in the field boundaries around.
