Bischofsbrueck Teufelssteine
Bischofsbrueck Teufelssteine submitted by Martin_L : Panoramic view. May 2009 (Vote or comment on this photo)
Impressive chamber covered by three capstones within a 41m x 8m enclosure.

The earthen part of the long-barrow is largely eroded. Most kerbstones (at least 45 out probably 59) are preserved, but nearly all are fallen to barrow's outside and are partly covered and/or overgrown. Most probably the enclosure was rectangular. The long sides are definitely parallel. Maybe the narrow sides were slightly rounded, but only an excavation could clarify this.
The chamber measures 8,5m x 3,8m (clear size 5,7m x 1,8m). It is orientated parallel to the barrow and located 10m away from the north-western end of the barrow. The westernmost capstone is small, the two others are of enormous size. The wellknown site is situated beside a narrow farm road. It is signposted from the mainroad.

Bischofsbrueck Teufelssteine
Bischofsbrueck Teufelssteine submitted by Martin_L : The chamber at night viewed from the East. Some partly fallen kerbstones of the 41m x 8m rectangular enclosure are visible to the right. Most kerbstones of the enclosure are preserved, but largely fallen to barrow's outside. This is a result of destruction attempts and/or the erosion of the earthwork. Anyway one of the finest monuments in this area (February 2009) (Vote or comment on this photo)
