Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Cornwall. This well is now largely destroyed. The village of St. Mewan is named after St Mewan of Brittany, the Celtic saint who founded a monastery in Brittany (now St Meen). By association with the Breton well this well was renowned for its powers of curing a malady popularly called "St. Mewan's evil," namely a malignant mange that eats the flesh down to the bone.

For more information see St. Mewan of Brittany.

Note: This well is on private land so you will need permission from the farmer to view it.
