In the Karleby area you will find eleven passage graves within a distance of a few kilometers. The condition of the graves varies. Some of them have cup marks on the roof slabs. The largest grave is called "Ragnvalds grav".

Additional information submitted by Drew Parsons in September 2011: This is one of Scandinavia's most impressive passage graves sitting on a mound which is 33 metres in diameter and which once would have been even larger but for plough damage.

The chamber is 16 metres by 2.4 metres orientated NNW to SSE with one of its orthostats a massive 7 metres in length. There are approximately 50 cup marks on three of the 9 capstones.

To reach the site drive east from Falköping on the road towards Åsle and after 3 kilometres turn south. Approximately 3 kilometres down this road you find a car park and detailed site signs on the west side of the road. There is a short footpath to the three main sites here and this site is the central one first reached.

Note: New photos of the longest known passage of all funnel beaker sites at 13.5m, indeed the longest passage grave chamber in Scandinavia, with an orthostat 6.5m long

I have renamed this site Karleby 58:1 and entered its three alternative names and refined the GPS coordinates. The site page was originally called Karleby but this causes the photographs of other existing and new Karleby sites to become attached to it. I have moved all photos to their renamed pages and added the following information to the site: This is one of Scandinavia's most impressive passage graves sitting on a mound which is 33 metres in diameter and which once would have been even larger but for plough damage.
