Chambered Cairn in Highlands. An Orkney-Cromarty type, long, horned cairn, 195' long with two lateral, tripartite, chambers. It is one of the group of three cairns known as 'The Grey Cairns of Camster.' Excavation in 1886 established that the cairn was bounded by a 6' high double-faced wall, and further excavations in the 1970s proved that its chambers belonged to two chambered round cairns, each encircled by a wall, which had been incorporated in the long cairn. The cairn was restored after excavation.

Grey Cairns of Camster : Long Cairn submitted by jeffrep : The Camster Long Cairn can be found beside an unclassified single track road which heads in an almost straight line due north from the A99 near Lybster before emerging on the A882 near Watten. It and the nearby Camster Round Cairn are a little over five miles from Lybster and some eight miles from Watten. A wooden boarded path leads from the roadside to the round cairn, then from it to the long ca...
