Merrivale N circle
Merrivale N circle submitted by davep : The Merrivale North Embanked Cairn Circle from the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website. Photograph taken 17th May 2019. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Cairn circle, part of the Merrivale complex on western Dartmoor, in Devon.

The diameter of the circle is about 8 metres. This circle is sometimes identified as a hut circle.

Update November 2019: This cairn is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entry for the Merrivale North Embanked Cairn Circle, which tells us: "Turner describes this site as an embanked stone circle; an annular bank of earth and/or stones with an inner edge of orthostats. Internal diameter is 8.0 meters with a bank 0.8 meters wide and 0.3 meters high. Much disturbed".

The cairn is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 440038, as MDV3757 (Probable ring cairn, Merrivale) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, and scheduled as Historic England List Entry No. 1013431 (A ring cairn on Longash Common lying 400m south east of Merrivale Bridge).
