Holy Well or Sacred Spring in East Sussex

This is located near the old kitchens. It is described as having considerable depth (reputedly 300 feet) and supplied with the purest water. It was also visited to by pilgrims. Guarded by four wall with one entrance and a pitched slate roof. Legend connects it with St. Dunstan and the Devil which is a well known legend and used to explain Tunbridge's chalybeate waters. Presumably the roaring spring, which is said to roar in memory of this event. It lies in the grounds of the convent school but they are happy for those who make an appointment to view.
