Tregeseal Barrow
Tregeseal Barrow submitted by Bladup : Tregeseal Chambered Cairn, Look how brilliantly clear of vegatation it is now compaired to my old photographs (Vote or comment on this photo)
Tregeseal Barrow is a Scillonian Chamber Tomb, which can be found on the hillside to the northeast of Tregeseal Village, near to Hailglower Farm, not far from St Just at the westernmost extremity of Penwith. Recent photos from Bladup show it has been recently cleared of vegetation and looking wonderful.

The tomb consists of an oval mound, about 12m by 9m, and still up to 1.5m in height. Many of the kerbstones around the edge of the mound still remain. There is a 3.5 metre long passage within the mound, 1.2 metres wide and opening to the south east, on top of which only 2 capstones still remain.

There was also a later cist in the mound, within which was found a large, intact bronze age urn and cremated bones. The entire cist and finds is now to be found in the British Museum.

The overgrown mound can clearly be seen in the field at the opposite side of the little valley when walking up the trackway to the Tregeseal Stone Circle. It looks possible to get to it along a little track than across the field, but I didn’t really have the time to spend here.

Tregeseal Barrow
Tregeseal Barrow submitted by rogerkread : Inside the cairn June 2019. Obliging farmer at Hailglower farm suggested the easiest access was to climb the rusty gate by a tumbledown shed near where the lane up to the farm from Tregeseal crosses a beck, climb the wall on the right and head uphill and right. If only all farmers were so helpful!
