Stanton Moor Cairn T2 submitted by enkidu41 : The surviving northern half of the cairn. (Vote or comment on this photo)
This conspicuous Round Cairn in Derbyshire is close to the angle where two footpaths cross. It is 15 metres across and 1.5 metres high. Nearly half of the mound has been removed exposing two concentric kerbs of stones.

The cairn has a cist at its centre which held a single cremation, but twelve other cremated remains were also interred within the cairn, most with flint tools, eight with collared urns.

Stanton Moor Cairn T25 submitted by shaqmeister : View of the excavated cairn T25 on Stanton Moor, looking roughly NE. Here, the shadows from the low sun emphasise the trenching on the inside and outside of the near circular curb—a feature of the Heathcotes’ method of excavation, rather than of the cairn itself.

There appears to be an error in the Grid Reference for this entry, which I would suggest should be (in 6 digits) SK247628. The site is a duplicate of that posted by TimPrevett as ‘Stanton Moor Cairn (TBC)’.
