St Chad (Middlesmoor)
St Chad (Middlesmoor) submitted by Sunny100 : Illustration of the Anglo-Saxon Cross at St Chad's church, Middlesmore. It dates from the 7th century and is decorated with a depiction of Christ's crucifixion, scroll-work and lines running downwards from a square-shaped plait. The cross commemorates St Ceadda (Chad), first bishop of Lichfield, who died in 672 AD. (Vote or comment on this photo)

A remarkable cross, linked to St Chad, is in the church of his name, Middlesmoor. There is also an Anglo Saxon font in the church.
