Stone Circle in North Yorkshire. Only a few stones remain in this circle and they’re probably not in their original positions. The circle is situated on land owned by the Forestry Commission (or whatever they’re called now) and it’s not easily accessible

Update December 2017: The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) features a page for this stone circle - see their entry for Nettlehole Ridge, Skipton, North Yorkshire, which gives directions for finding this site, together with a photograph and a brief archaeology & history.

The site is recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 46379, which originally said: "A large and well defined stone circle averaging 25.0m in diameter, formed by six free-standing boulders of millstone grit. Within the enclosed area is a small embanked circle and a stony mound. The latter feature could represent debris from a partial clearance of the stones (no stone holes are apparent, however, in the perimeter of the circle) though the purpose of the circular bank is obscure.", but later goes onto amend this description to: "The circle now falls in afforestation, and is no longer recognizable. Most of the stones, none of which (from previous report) was large, appear to have been dislodged or buried in the course of planting. The small embanked circle ... survives, although ploughed through. Its diameter is approximately 6.0m, and the breaks in the bank confirm a stony construction. Beyond this, little can be said as to its possible function. Survey of 10/2/64 cancelled."

Note: ...something from before we were so rudely interrupted, thanks Rich. We are open for posting photos again too.
