Cairn in South Lanarkshire

This now destroyed tumulus is recorded as Canmore ID 45084. Canmore says the OS Name Book of 1858 records: "a small mound at Hamilton Farm was levelled about 25 years ago (1768). In it was found a 'stone coffin' containing human bones. No trace of a mound or tumulus is to be seen on this farm, nor do the oldest inhabitants know anything about it." A further entry from 1978 says this is the same sites as another barrow at NS 620 623 - see Canmore ID 45066 for details.

The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) also features a page for this site - see their entry for Hamilton Farm, Cambuslang, Lanarkshire. TNA add: "In days of olde, close to the modern M8 on the edge of the modern industrial estate north of Eastfield, was once an old solitary tomb whose home had laid here, undisturbed, until the coming of the Industrialists."
