Craighall standing stone submitted by BigSweetie

Standing Stone in Perthshire

Just opposite the cottage of Courthill, but apparently known as the Craighall stone, being as it is just NE of the former saw mill of the same name. On the E side of the stone are several cup marks - 9 according to the RCAHMS in 1986, but in 1881 there were apparently 13.

I tried to identify the original stone but with little success.

Beneath this heap of stones is the four poster that Burl described, there seems to have been some field clearance since his visit.

A close up of the cupmarks, I counted 10 but Andy Sweet says there are 13.

I love this stone the situation is great and there is a destroyed circle nearby.

Looking up the hill at the stone you can see the cupmarks at the base.

There is a handy field gate here so access is easy. This is a magnificent stone with some cupmarks at the base.
These are just the most recent 15 photos of Craighall.
