Tham Lang Rongrien, which means cave behind the school, is a rock shelter in a lime stone hill.
It was excavated in 1983 by the American Archaeologist Douglas Anderson.
He found out, that the cave was inhabited from 38000 until 27000 years ago but not by a permanent settlement.

He found three stages of human use of the cave. The first with ash of 2 bonfire places. But then was a break of several thousand years with no sign of human access.
The second stage had 3 fire places and some stone tools.
Phase 3 had the richest amount of finds. 45 scrapers, knives and choppers made from local chert were found. Even some intentionally placed stones did not escape the trained eye of an Archaeologist.
Because of copyright problems I cannot put any photos so far. But there is a good one on the following Internet side: www.finearts.go.th/system/files/Krabi.pdf
