Borgklinten submitted by kenntha88 : Site in Nord-Trøndelag Norway (Vote or comment on this photo)
At the oval shaped and steep rocky hill called Borgklinten is the remains of a iron age hillfort. The rocky hill have a very steep vertical drop to the south east, south, west and north east. The only side not impossible to get up is the north and north west side and this entrance is blocked by a stone wall. From the local dirt road that passes the rocky hill to the west there is a narrow footpath leading up to the hillfort and a information poster have been put up where the path starts.

The wall on the north side has a almost semi circular orientation and follows the edge of the top plateu of the hill from east to west. In the middle the wall is broken and have a clear entrance. The footpath from below the hill enters trough this opening.

The wall used to be almost fallen over and large amount of stones had fallen down the hill but the wall was restored in later years by moving the stones from down the hill up to where the remains of the original wall still could be seen. The restoration has made the centre of the wall very clear and high and wide. The wall continues to the east and ends up in a natural ravine. The eastern part of the wall is almost ruined and overgrown and can barely be made out in the terrain. Also the part of the wall to the west of the entrance in the middle where it ends in a natural cliff to the west is similarly overgrown and ruined and can also just barely be seen.

The total lenght of the wall is around 96 metres. The centre where the wall is restored the wall is around 3 metres thick and around 0,5 to 1 metre in height. The almost ruined parts of the wall it is very difficult to make out the original wall size.
