The Ringwall Gehrdener Burgberg is a hillfort on the Gehrdener Berg hill in Gehrden (Lower Saxony/Germany).
The hillfort is located on the crest of the hill. It has the dimensions of 140 m × 75 m and encloses a semicircular oval area of about one hectare. The ramparts have been omitted at the North-Western part, as the steep hill slope offered protection. At the others sides, the ramparts and their ditches are still clearly visible in the terrain. The rampart had the height of about 1.2 m. Because it had been errected on a hill edge, the fortification was 5 m high and was very impressive when seen from the outside.
It is not clear when the hillfort was built. The finds from the hill indicate that the site was inhabitated from the Neolithic to early Medieval times. The hillfort was most likely built between the 1rst and 3rd century. The site was interpreted as Cheruskerburg ("Cherusci Castle") in the 1930`s. However, there is no evidence to connect the hillfort to the Cherusci.
