Ancient Village or Settlement in Tunisia

For the Numidians, who founded the town, the settlement served as a stronghold against the Carthaginians to the northeast. It became a Punic town in the 2nd Century BCE. Once the Romans had taken control, it served as stronghold against the Berber tribes to the southwest. It sports a amphitheater, temples, Trajan's Arch, and baths. There is also a museum with local artifacts. The temple of Hathor-Miskar dating back to punic times is supposed to be noteworthy. Also see Numidian Megalithic tomb. 924 Meters altitude
