Tumulus in Baden-Wuerttemberg

Text by anonymous (2-2010):
Reconstruction of the famous south-German round-barrow on original site.
In the mounds' wooden chamber a rich wagon-burial from Hallstatt D was found.
Gravegoods were a 4-wheeled wagon, several bronze-dishes, horse gear,
butcher's tools, several drinking horns (i.e. their mounts), a bronze sheet couch,
a bronze cauldron with three lion-figurines. It probably contained mead.
The dead man was lying on the couch. He wore a gold sheet neckring,
an antenna-dagger with gold-sheet around the sheath, several golden s-fibulas,
gold sheet shoe-covers. Bronze "Paukenfibel".
Everything was wrapped in cloth, pieces of which have survived.

The mound can be accessed easily by car.
A path leads to the standing stone on the summit of the mound from
where a nice view is to be had.

Visitors of the mound should visit the nearby "Keltenmuseum" in Hochdorf,
where the original finds are exhibited.
