CharcoalBurner89 visited on 5th Mar 2021 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 3 Access: 4 You can now drive freely on the road to the cist. However, the street is quite narrow and local farmers should be given priority for their agricultural traffic. The cist is only a few steps into a small wood.

Cist in Lower Saxony, Bremen

One of the few well preserved Bronze Age cists in Lower Saxony.
It was discovered in 1896.
The chamber is build of seven uprights and five capstones.
The capstones are flat and of smaller size, compared to the
usual stone age burial chamber. Furthermore the chamber
is covered with smaller stones.

A bronze sword, axe and dagger have been found in the chamber,
you can see them in the 'Landesmuseum Hannover'.

When visiting in 2008 the road leading along the site was residents only. So it is a walk of 500m when you approach the site from Meckelstedt.
