It is not known how old the site is. Moreover, the mound seems to contain stone material, and therefore it is not clear, if it is just a round barrow or maybe a cairn. Similarily, the term Hünengrab is somewhat ambiguos and may even allow the interpretation as a megalithic grave.
The Heimatverein Wüsten has put an erratic boulder at the top of the mound, which has the inscription:"Hünengrab Heimatverein Wüsten".
