Ancient Village or Settlement in Schwyz

In 2011, Unesco recognised “Prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps” as World Culture Heritage.

Hurden Rosshorn is one of the 56 pile dwellings sites in Switzerland, out of 111 of the approximately 1000 known sites in six countries (Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Slovenia, Austria) .

It was inhabited between 3500 to 500 BC.

The "pile dwellings" are prehistoric settlement remains in lakes and moors around the Alps. The prehistoric settlement remains provide a vivid insight into the formation and development of early agricultural societies around the Alps.
