Kangundi
Kangundi submitted by keveesubramanyamvenugopal : Intricate patterns and dots at this rock art site near Kangundi, in southern India. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Rock Art in southern India. This newly discovered Neolithic art may date from between 1200 BC to 800 BC according to its discoverer K V Subramanyam. It is located close to the village of Kangundi near Kuppam in Chitoor District, Andhra Pradesh State in southern India.

Its finder, KV Subramanyam is quoted in The Hindu newspaper as having located this rock art site between 2009 and 2011. The site is a natural hillock of black sandstone with some fissures where human access, although difficult, is possible. In one of these openings Subramanyam discovered a number of paintings including one of a man hunting, and others of white coloured standing humans with red ochre on them. There were red ochre spots marked on the roof of the cave and man-made hollow spaces. Nearby there is a megalithic rock shelter.
