I have visited· I would like to visit
Andy B: would like to visit Fascinating workshops where they sculpture statues of the Mother Goddess Durga. Bettany visited the Kamakhya Temple which we don't have listed, but here it is on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamakhya_Temple
The town is situated east of the Betwa River, in the fork of the Betwa and Bes rivers, 10 km from Sanchi.
On the river banks there are ancient temples with ancient statues of Gods and Goddesses as well as Hero and Sati stones.
East of the river there are interesting workshops that sculpture statues of the Mother Goddess Durga (Mahisha Sura Mardini-Durga slaying the demon Mahisha) out of straw and clay ordered by Hindu believers to celebrate the 9 day festival of Navratry.
As the Mother goddess is everything in existance, the workshops workers use clay from all over the city including clay from a doorstep of a prostitute.
