There are english speaking guides available. Most labelling (which is generally quite good) is in Russian, there are a few labels in English. The most commonly seen English label is "don't touch, please!".
The museum gives an overview of a range of different sites and finds in Kazakhstan including Funerary Monuments (burial chambers, tombs, etc); Petroglyph's, Standing stones, Ceramics, a nice range of domestic finds with pictures illustrating how they were used; some palaeolithic sites.
There are traditional and cultural displays representing the period from the 19th Century onwards. The history of the Disposition from 1917 (1920) onwards with historical re-enactment sculptures?. And displays from 1991 following the breakup of the Soviet Union with Kazakhstan becoming a Republic right up to the present day.
Entrance fee: 100 KZT (July 2008)
