Ancient Settlement in India. The Vedic river Sarasvati flows from the Himalayas (Mt. Kailas) to Somnath (Prabhas Patan, Gujarat) over approximately 1600 kms. Over 2000 archaeological sites have been listed on the river bank in a gazette prepared by Prof. Gregory Possehl. The writing system of the civilization is called Indus script.

This has been decoded as mleccha smith guild tokens. Mleccha (cognate meluhha) is used as mlecchamukha (Sanskrit) and milakku (Pali) both words meaning 'copper'. The smiths of the civilization used the writing system to record their repertoire of minerals, metals, alloys, furnaces. The glyphs used are read rebus in mleccha language. The glyphs continued to be used on punch-marked coins from mints from Gandhara (Afghanistan) to Karur (South India) from 6th century BCE.
