Hero Stones near Jaisalmer
Located on the southern outskirts of Jaisalmer to the south east of Gadisar Lake and about 50 metres from the shore there is a Hindu cremation ground containing ancient Hero Stones erected in memory of Rajput Kshatriya (a Hindu warrior caste) who have fallen in battle. These Hero Stones are common all over Rajputhana and are found in other parts of India too, especially in the south where some have been dated back to 300 BC.
