Sculptured Stones in Gujarat, India. In Khotay (Kotay), Kutch, Gujarat, India, like all places in the Rajputana, SATI stones are erected in memory of the Hindu widows who perform self-cremation on the cremation pyre of their deceased husbande, an old Hindu costum that was abolished by the British.
The hand engraving on stones depicts the lady 's hand. The stones in Khotay are old, from the end of the 1st millennium CE and the biggest I saw in India.
