Martin_L visited on 1st Jul 2019 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 2 Access: 5 Very nice menhir. After it got knocked over it has been set up at a slightly different location in a rather non-desirable way. At least it survived, but the ambience is definitely is not good although the surrounding rural landscape is quite beautiful.

Hinkelstein von Gumbsheim
Hinkelstein von Gumbsheim submitted by AlexHunger : This is easily one of the prettiest menhirs in the Palatinate. Despite it`s dainty proportions, it still stand about 2 Meters tall. It is made out of some sort of Limestone with many tiny pebbles compacted in it. This stone was also removed from it´s previous location 300 Meters away to make ploughing easier for a local farmer. It now stands on public land favoured by hickers. (Vote or comment on this photo)

The Menhir was hit (accidentally?) by heavy agricultural equipment in 2002, but luckily it has been re-erected. Sadly in a more or less awkward way. The ambiance is slightly spoilt by a beton foundation, agricultural roads, vineyards etc. Hence i tried to give ... (Vote or comment on this photo)
