Barrow Cemetery in Møre og Romsdal

At the Ikornneset site are 10 burial cairns. There are also small plowing cairns and remains of old sunken roads. The area has been facilitated for visitors with several information signs and footpaths.

The burial cairns are typical for the cairns found along the coast. They are located on small hills overlooking the ocean and range from 15 to 10 metres in diameter and from 1 to 2 metres in height. The two largest have a impressive size, they are around 15 metres across and around 2 metres in height. They are easy to see even though some of them are overgrown with grass, moss and smaller trees. It is uncertain how old the burial cairns here are, but they are believed to be from the bronze age and earlier Iron Age (1800BC to around 1000AD). Maybe the burials are from different time periods. Some of the cairns are single and some are located in small groups.

Just next to a modern industry complex are the remains of a small Iron Age settlement. It consists of two remains of housings and one boat house. Most of this settlement have been excavated and then overgrown with a thick forest. It was not possible to locate the settlement when I visited the site.
