In the valley floor of Romsdalen is a small iron age barrow cemetery. It was not easy to find, it is not marked with signposts. It is located on the north bank of the Rauma river, just next to a railway line and the main highway.

The site has a stunning ambience with a superb view over he surrounding mountains and steep cliffs! The famous mountain climbing wall "Trollveggen" (the trolls wall) is just some kilometres away. And the site is not far from a popular view spot for tourists.

The site is located on a grassy field between the railway line and the river, it is overgrown with high grass, but the barrows are easy to see when you stand in the field.
I counted 7 round barrows or cairns. The range from 15 to 10 metres across, with craters in the middle suggesting they have been plundered.
The site also has a small and pretty standing stone. It is about 1,5 metres in height and around 20-30cm wide.

The name "Horgheim" can also be traced way back, since the word "Horg" means a place of worship in ancient times.
