The well Steinsbörnchen (old German for Little Stone Well) has been described as a holy well in Altena (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). The well was used by St. Einhart, who lived as a hermit on Klusenberg hill. Today the ruins of his chapel as well as the intact well can be visited.

Since 2014, the Steinsbörnchen can be reached via a nature and history trail. Other interesting sites near and on Klusenberg hill include Burg Altena castle, the chapel ruins, the Hexentanzplatz ("Witch dancing place") and the masoned well "wrong Steinsbörnchen", which is sometimes confused with the real one.

The chapel was built by Graf Engelbert III in 1386. In 1876, the ruins were partially reconstructed. A photo from 1907 shows t... (Vote or comment on this photo)
